Title:             By Oak, Ash, & Thorn     Sub Title. Modern Celtic Shamanism

Author:         D.J. Conway

Publisher:     Llewellyn Publications     ISBN number:     1-56718-166-X

This book presents a modern system of Celtic Shamanism, based upon old writings that have suggested that Druidry  was not the only belief system in the celtic world. It suggests that some of the old Druid stories have been misinterpreted  and are stories pertaining to Shamanistic powers.

This book when I brought it some 10 years ago now was only £10.99 and I don't think it has gone up by much over all that time. It is a lovely book to read and with the illustrations by Anna-Marie Ferguson it is also visually beautiful.

It is a course which takes you through the heart of celtic shaman beliefs and up to modern times.

I would give this book a 9 out of 10. This book is dotted with meditations and journeyings, culminating in the Greater Initiation. The glossary, believe it or not, is fantastic and leads naturally into the history of many of the characters that are mentioned throughout the book. It also includes a family tree type section that shows the relationships between these characters.
