Macha could see, with the gift of foresight, how Dithorba would rule the land, and she could not stand back and watch him destroy the foundations her father had laid down. She could see how power hungry Dithorba was, his greed annoyed her, his selfishness was unacceptable to Macha who acted in the interests of others. She could see too that if Dithorba was to reign that it would divide the people, and drive a wedge between himself and the rest of the kingdom, isolating himself and indulging in his position of power, ruling unfairly and loosing touch with sections of the realm he saw as lesser and reigning terror on these humble folk. Macha could not let this happen, so after her father’s death, she challenged Dithorba to a dual, and Dithorba in his arrogance and his ignorant belief that no woman could overpower him, gladly rose to the challenge confident that he could not be beaten. He saw it as amusement, and good sport taking pleasure in slaying Macha. He had always been jealous of her status within the kingdom, and how everyone at every level liked her, even loved her.

There was just something about Macha that was endearing to others and so many qualities that people liked, that if asked their reasons would be many for their respect and admiration for this woman. She had a passion for fairness, her genuineness, her willingness to go into battle fearlessly, her strength and courage that gave inspiration to others, her quiet resilient nature, her ambition and drive for what she believed in and her determination to uphold her father’s realm in the manner her father had built - a kingdom of loyalty. And so the dual came to pass, and almost as soon as it started, it had ended and Macha defeated Dithorba, and the sovereignty of Ireland went to Kimbay, a man similar to Red Hugh, a gentle man. Kimbay ruled the realm as Red Hugh had done, treating men and women with fairness and equality, and continued to prepare the young for times of battle. Macha and Kimbay fell in love, being 2 genuine souls, their love spread over the land, for there is no more powerful force than love, and the men and women of the realm lived in this air of love. Although preparations were going on all the time for battle and the defense of the realm, the people were happy, and they remembered those days to be filled with laughter and love, life was good and love reigned on Ireland.
