Cold Moon :This is the first lunar cycle after midwinter. This lunation corresponds to the Celtic tradition of the Rowan Moon. Both are about introspection. The winters past of not-so-long-ago meant long dark nights and very little food, a life lived indoors lit by fire. This fire often meant the difference between survival and death to our ancestors. The Full Cold Moon was a welcome light as it fell across the blue-white landscape.
Quickening Moon: This moon prods us to look inside ourselves for dormant possibilities. Our fellow creatures who have been sleeping deep within the womb of Mother Earth, are also feeling this pull as they are lulled into the hazy dreamscape that for warns the time of awakening. In Western Europe this was the start of the cycle of birthing new lambs - the first physical sigh of the much awaited return of the abundance of food, in a world still ruled by darkness and cold. To find our balance we must find the inner foundation on which to build our desired lives. Quickening Moon Rituals can draw out the potential that now lies dormant within you. You may not know what marvels await you, but they are there and are aching to be awakened.
Storm Moon: The old saying tells us “ March comes like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” In North America, where the worlds largest concentration of electrical storms occur, we may not see the lamb until June. During this time we may be inclined to focus on self protection rather than the magical potential of Tornados and Cyclones; yet the two need not be mutually exclusive.Include a few magical tools in a storm kit. When in a safe place you can use the counter clockwise energy of the storm to help you connect to the attributes of erasing negatives from your lives, thus eliminating your inner ----- as well as outer ------ storms. This can be pre-empted by doing the same sort of thing on the storm moon. |
