This is a film about two sisters who go to live with Aunts. They are two young witches as are their Aunties who live under a curse, " Whomever shall love an Owens woman, will live for a while in the euphoria of their love before meeting an untimely death ".
Both girls grow up looking for that one true love that could beat the curse. The film has possessions, rituals, the conquring of fear and the innate knowledge that true love will conqure all.
If there really is a message to this film I think it is ' you can not perform true majik if you look down your nose at it, you have to live it day by day and not just when you need or want something.
It also shows what can happen if you do look down your nose at it and the consequences that arise by dabbling in the darker side. |
