What are the benefits.
Appart from the obvious health benefits, purification of the nerve channels, called nadis, is essential for mastery of Pranayama or breath of life-force control. These techniques will also help to normalise body fat & excess mucous or phlegm.
There are six main purification techniques.
1 The Dhautis
2 Basti
3 NetiW
4 Uddiyana & Nauli
5 Bhastrika & Alternate Nostril Breathing
6 Tratak
Vaman-Dhauti is one of the more important Dhautis.
It involves drinking several glasses of water and, by an act of will, to expel the water. The more you drink the easier it becomes to induce vomiting. Vomiting can also be induced by tickling the root of the tongue. When done correctly this can become very therapeutic and correct diseases aggravated by excess mucous.
