Update on My Gardening Exploits

At last, Springtime has arrived and after a few dry days, I was able to cut the grass in the front and back gardens, the first cut since October 2007, and there was alot of grass added to the compost heap at the bottom of the back garden. The 2 plots on which I planted potatoes and vegetables last year have stayed relatively weed-free and they are ready for more potatoes and vegetables this season, which I hope to plant at the New Moon on 6th April, 2008 although more likely will be the potatoes going in first in one entire plot. These potatoes I have been collecting over the last 8 weeks or so, taking the odd one here and there from our supply of potatoes and they have sprouted nicely after I placed them into a paper sack and kept in our spare room. Other seeds that I intend to plant are spring onions, carrots, mixed lettuce and peas. I am delighted to be back to doing what I love doing, out in our garden enjoying our beautiful planet, Gaia. Welcome Spring, Welcome Spring!

450g / 1lb parsley (inc stalks)

4 litres / 7 pints boiling water

28g / 10oz ginger root

1.5kg / 3lb white sugar

2 juices of lemon or orange

15g / half oz fresh yeast

slice of toast

Parsley Wine Recipe

1. Place parsley in container, pour in boiling water, cover and leave for 24 hours.

2. Strain parsley. Add ginger root and 1 fruit juice to the parsley water, bring to the boil and hold gently rolling for 25 minutes.

3. Put sugar and fruit juice in a large container and pour boiled liquid over it. When nearly cool, crumble the yeast onto the toast and float on the surface of the liquid.

4. Cover and leave undisturbed in a moderately warm place for 5 days.

5. Strain, bottle and seal lightly and drink sensibly.
